JJC Visitation Rules

  1. Visitation is restricted to immediate family members (parents, legal guardians, siblings) unless otherwise permitted by management, court order or Level status.  Any person prohibited by court order from contact with a resident shall be denied a visit.
  2. All adult visitors will be required to have a valid Photo Identification card.
  3. All visitors are subject to search and will be screened by a metal detector and a millimeter wave scanner.
  4. All coats, hats, bags/purses, cell phones, and personal items must be secured in the visitors’ vehicles or in the locker/search area before the visitor will be allowed to enter the visitation area.
  5. Visitors are not allowed to bring in food or drinks from outside of the facility.  Visitors are allowed to purchase items from the vending machines in the lobby to share with the residents during their visit.  Items must be purchased prior to entering the visitation area. Visitors are not allowed to exit and then reenter the visitation area in order to purchase vending machine items.  All items must be consumed in the visitation area or leave with the visitor.  Residents are not allowed to take vending machine items back to their living unit.
  6. Hygiene products are provided by the JJC, therefore, visitors are not allowed to bring in personal products, unless the court or JJC medical personnel order otherwise.
  7. No money will be accepted for the residents; however, residents’ money or other valuable property may be released to their parent if they wish.  Both the resident and the parent will be required to sign a receipt for this money/property.
  8. No written correspondence is allowed to be passed during visitation.  All written correspondence must go through the mail. Visitors are also prohibited from bringing in personal items. No books, magazines, packages or pictures will be accepted for residents at visitation.
  9. There is no smoking allowed in the JJC.
  10. If visitors leave visitation for any reason, the visit will be terminated.
  11. Staff may deny a visit if they suspect the visitor to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
  12. No gang colors or any gang representation will be permitted.
  13. Staff may terminate a visit at any time for reasonable cause.
